WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT TRUST THE WIND:

SHOW BUSINESS WEEKLY:
The move across the country from New York to Palm Springs seems to agree with Norman Lasiter because he has finally fulfilled his dream of becoming a recording artist. His first disc, The Gift of Love, is a lovely collection of show tunes and pop songs that are all well-sung. But it's his second recording, Trust the Wind, which finds Lasiter coming into his own as, not only a singer, but an artist as well. Lasiter's passion for his material-ranging from David Friedman and John Bucchino to Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz-is even more arresting because of his warm, lyric tone. His radiantly confident singing only enhances the inspirational message of songs like "Grateful" and "Love Don't Need a Reason," and his light touch on Friedman's "I'll Be Here With You" is especially welcome. Wisely, he's working with Christopher Marlowe, a consummate musician who plays the piano exquisitely and instinctively enhances Lasiter's pure, unaffected vocals to maximum effect. At this point, New York's loss is Palm Springs' gain but hopefully, with a voice that seems tailor-made for Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter and the rest of the Songbook composers, these CDs will be the first of many gifts to the world of music.

DAVID FRIEDMAN:
It's absolutely beautiful, sung with a clean, clear understanding and communication of the songs. Your performances have...magic.  I'm honored that the CD is entitled Trust the Wind and appreciate the love and understanding that you've brought to my songs.  It's something I know anyone with a sense of spirit will want to listen to.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE GIFT OF LOVE:

"beautiful and heartfelt" David Friedman

"Norman Lasiter provides guileless, unaffected vocals combined with the tastefully spare arrangements of the singular Christopher Marlowe---the answer to a singer's prayers." Scott Barnes

"Norman's honest interpretations shine through with emotion and clarity." Christopher Marlowe

MY BIO:

It seems I've been singing since the day I was born.  My favorite activity as a child was singing along to all my favorite 45's in my bedroom of my hometown - Greenwood, Indiana.  Being a very shy child, I kept my love of singing a secret.  Fortunately, I had the courage to participate in our award-winning high school band in order to have an outlet for my love of music.

Once high school ended, I attended IUPUI - a community college in Indianapolis, Indiana.  During my two years there I became anxious to fulfill my dream of singing.  An encouraging high school friend who was studying music at Butler University finally convinced me to give it a try.  The following four years as a voice major at Butler were incredibly eye-opening and rewarding.

Even though I was beginning to have dreams of moving to New York City, I opted instead to attend graduate school at the University of Tennessee.  I continued to grow during those three years - mostly by getting involved in local community theater.

I finally moved to New York City and remained there for fifteen years.  I didn't have the theatrical success I desired, but I had thirteen wonderful years as an employee of Sony Music Entertainment Inc.  One of the highlights during those years was the exciting opportunity to record "This Holiday Dream" at Sony Music Studios for the Sony Music Special Products label.

I now live in Palm Springs, California.  I fulfilled a lifelong dream shortly after relocating by recording my first solo CD at Private Island Trax in Hollywood, CA.  It was the culmination of two years of hard work with Christopher Marlowe - my musical director and arranger.  Chris is a brilliant musician and it was a thrill to be a part of and a witness to his creative genius.

Much to my delighted surprise, I have become a respected and popular singer in the Palm Springs area.  I have met some wonderful and supportive people locally who believe in my talent.  I am very grateful to them for helping me to believe in myself and to provide me with many unexpected opportunities.

My CD, The Gift of Love,  is a sincere reflection of my life experiences, whether they were painful or joyous.  Music has always been and continues to be a beautiful gift of love for me.  I hope that each of you will interpret each song with your own lifetime of valuable experiences.

Trust the Wind, my 2nd CD, is a result of the hundreds of wonderful hours of performing in Palm Springs. The recording of Trust the Wind was originally intended for friends and family, but I eventually decided to take a risk and independently produce it and manufacture it.  It is a bit more rough around the edges than my 1st CD, but I'm very happy and pleased with the results.  I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
